Ah, I see....a term created by people who don't know why it's even called football, and are just being facetious.

Did you know that the full name for Rugby is Rugby Football (because the ball is 12 inches long)? That is where american football got its name from. I don't see anyone calling it Rugby Hand Egg.

Oh, and while we're at it..."soccer" is a british term too, derived from the full name of the sport, "Association Football".
